Youth day was today. Started out 32 degrees at 4:45 am when we got set up. A tom was gobbling in the next field over but wouldn't come looking for the sweet sounding "hen". A little while later two jakes and three hens came down the hill toward us. One hen walked up about ten to fifteen behind us and started clucking (alarm putt) three times. I figured we were busted but they calmed down and walked around and down in front of us at 6:20 am. Fifteen yards and Isaac made a great shot dropping the (dominate?) lead jake;) Earlier when the tom sounded off down through the woods in the other field, I asked Isaac if he would take a jake and he said he would if the tom didn't come in. Twelve and half pounds of wild turkey will be cooking within a day or so. Some good eatin'! (and I can sleep in a few mornings now). I know that I only got up at 4 ish three mornings in a row but that starts to get old (or maybe it's just me). - Rick (& 13 year old Isaac)
